Dia de los muertos

Posted on 28 Feb 2016 by maisha (posted in: blogs)

Sticking to the Mexican and happiness topic of my Alegria post, I thought it would be nice to share some picas from the 'Dia de los muertos' themed party we hosted on October 31st last year.
Have you ever noticed the extent to which happiness is ingrained in Mexican culture? Their food is vibrant and alive. Their music is cheerful and makes you want to dance. Even their passing of family members and friends is celebrated rather than grieved over on 'Dia de los muertos' (day of the dead). Life is too short to be unhappy! So we decided to bring some happiness back into our lives and share it with friends by celebrating:

This year we both turned 30
An accomplishment on its own
Therefore of a party worthy
Preferably not alone
Your soul we invite
On the day of the dead
To dance through the night
And leave well-drunk and fed
All we ask is you share with us your cheer
Come celebrate with us yet another year

Mexican food, Mexican music, Mexican beer, lots of color, and calaveras...

I made a mean Mexican chicken mole.
[Mole sauce in the make!]

But my I-can't-believe-it's-veggie chili was also a big hit!
And to end the night on a sweet note, there were my epic Churro cupcakes<3

Yeah, I think I pretty much set the bar at impossible height for any future parties we host...
