Market Finds

Posted on 29 Dec 2014 by maisha (posted in: blogs)

Of course I couldn't go to London without visiting Borough Market! I was hoping to pick up a dozen flaxjacks or so to take home. I discovered these delicious bars when I visited Borough market with my parents. Sadly, they were nowhere to be found this time.
Ah well, I left with four types of cheese instead. Almost the same, right?! First we had a bite to eat. We shared a - new to us - scotch egg before E eyeballed the beef burg'ito. I had a hard time deciding, but in the end I went with my all-time favorite, freshly-fried falafel in a wrap. Seriously, you can wake me up anytime for fresh falafel!

I also snagged along some cookies from the cinnamon tree bakery, including a shortbread owl.
There seems to be (h)Owling Madness all over the place. At the Old Spitalfields market it became clear that owls are the new black (or something): from scarves, to handbags, to dresses. If you ain't wearing owl, you're not hipster. So I bought an owl dress to match my cookie:

Then I spotted this awesome tee:

I hope it fits my dad, otherwise he'll just have to slim down. He can add it to his list of New Year's resolutions ;-p
I also picked up a few items at the Kensington Whole Foods Market to take back home:

I <3 oatcakes! As for the Booja Booja truffles, they had a really good deal going on for Christmas...

All good things come to an end. If they must, then end it well. That's what we did, when we arrived at Gatwick Airport for our flight back home:

We enjoyed a late lunch at Jamie's Italian Restaurant. I indulged my carb-tooth with the Polenta Chips.
