Weekend Things

Yesterday E and I made an attempt at renewing our wardrobes by shopping in Utrecht. The attempt was pretty pathetic... after entering three stores we came to the conclusion that neither the colors nor the designs of this year's Spring/Summer fashion appeal to us. We've both kind of lost our way fashion-wise. As in: we're not quite sure what style does appeal to us, we only know what doesn't.
We did find a few items in the outlet corner of the Protest store (boardwear).

Then we went for lunch at Badhu, an Arabic restaurant located in a former hammam (Arabic bath house). We ordered the MEZZE LAHM (mezze platter) for two with:

  • QARNABIT (roasted cauliflower soup with cumin, goat's milk and chili sauce)
  • QARA'A (pumpkin salad with pear, feta, honey-roasted pumpkin seeds, and a dressing made with orange blossom water)
  • TAOUK TAMRA (date and walnut tapenade stuffed turkey rolls with yogurt and pomegranate)
  • QIRFA AL-LAHM (grilled beef skewers with raz el hanout and honey couscous salad, and harissa)
  • B'STILLE (sweet date and nut stuffed phyllo dough parcel)
  • KOBZ (Turkish and Lebanese bread with hummus and TOUM BI ZEIT - Lebanese mint aioli)

Each dish was absolutely amazing! Wonderful flavor combinations and very fresh. It was a great way to end our 'shopping spree'.
