Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte

The first time I heard someone call 'schwarzwälder kirschtorte' a 'black forest cake', I laughed my *** off!
I thought: seriously?! Blackforest?!
It's a literal translation of the German version and I thought it was a joke, but apparently the joke's on me ;-)
I never really liked the traditional blackforest cake as it's to sweet and rich for me. But I've created a high protein version of it, which I absolutely love. And because I love you, I'm going to share it ^^


Black Forest Protein Cake (serves 4)
Nutritional data per serving (based on 4 servings total):


Ingredients


    For the cake
  • 7 egg whites + 1/4 tsp cream of tartar, whipped until stiff
  • 40 g (1 heaping scoop) Dymatize Elite Egg White Protein Powder Vanilla
  • 10 g (1 tbsp) coconut flour)
    For the filling
  • 300 g fat-free quark
  • 28 g chocolate flavored whey protein powder
  • 20 g raw cacao powder + some for dusting
  • 3 tbsp sugar-free strawberry jam
    For garnish
  • Fresh pitted cherries
  • Unsweetened grated coconut
  • Raw cacao nibs
  • Homemade chocolate hazelnut butter



Method


  1. Proceed to make cake as per directions in my protein tiramisu recipe.
  2. Proceed to layer cake as per directions in my protein tiramisu recipe using two filling layers per cake layer: spread 1 tbsp strawberry jam on cake, top with chocolate filling, put on next cake layer, repeat.
