Green Goblin Butter

No, this is not my Halloween costume. This is just a photo of me wearing my protective workwear. I totally go to work like this every day... NOT! Only when visiting oil & gas plants. Oh, and yes, this is me totally showing off the temporary lease car I get to drive.
And yes, my Halloween itch is back! I love Halloween. I love all things pumpkin. Basically, I love October! With all the blogs hosting pumpkin- and fall-inspired recipes, I just couldn't stay behind.

Serve up some Green Goblin Butter (sounds so much more exciting than pumpkin & sunflower seed butter, doesn't it?!) at your next Halloween party. Or just eat it all month long. Or all year long. I promise I won't tell ^^

PS: This photo also features my Cookies & Cream Butter (recipe to be revealed in a later post) in the background.
Green Goblin Butter (makes 1 jar)

Nutritional info per serving (~ 2 tbsp):

  • 140 g (1 c) pumpkin seeds, raw and unsalted
  • 65 g (1/2 c) sunflower seeds, raw and unsalted
  • 75 mL (5 tbsp or 1/4 c + 1tbsp) pumpkin seed oil
  • 32 g (1/4 c) ground flax seed
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

  1. Toast the pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds in batches in a non-stick pan over low heat until slightly browned and fragrant. Let cool down.
  2. Process all ingredients together in a blender until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed. Don't fret if it doesn't seem to turn into a butter, it will! It simply takes a longer time than other nut butters do.
